San Diego 7  at New York 1
-
Dave Winfield (18) and Mike Hargrove (4) homered and Alan Foster (11-12, 3.60) went the distance as the Padres use their bullpen for just one inning in a three-game sweep at Shea
San Francisco 3 at Philadelphia 9
-
Jim Lonborg (12-9, 3.19) tosses a complete game and Greg Luzinski and Tim McCarver each drive in three runs for the Phils
St. Louis 6 at Atlanta 4
- Ted Simmons (24HR) hit a two-run home run in the 9th as he leads the Cardinals to victory again. Mark Littell (26Sv, 2.40) fanned two in the 9th in recording a save on consecutive days
Pittsburgh 3 at Cincinnati 1
- Dave May’s RBI single in the 9th off Rawly Eastwick (3-5, 2.20) broke a 1-1 tie and the Pirates would add one more to win two of three in this NLCS rematch. John Candelaria (13-8, 2.65) and Kent Tekulve (28Sv, 2.47) combined on a two hitter.
Chicago 0 at Houston 5
-Mark Lemongello may have competition for rookie of the year on his own pitching staff as Bob Knepper (11-2, 2.47) tosses a four hit shutout. Cesar Cedeno (36SB) and Jerry DaVanon (6SB) each stole two bases. The Astros outscore the Cubs 27-2 in three games at the Dome this weekend.

NL East: The Pirates remain 11 games up on the Cardinals
NL West: The Astros extend their lead to 4 games on the Reds.

American League:
Chicago 3 at Boston 9

Bob Watson (22HR) homers and drives in five as the Red Sox sweep four from Chicago to the tune of 27-7

-Lenny Randle’s two run single in the bottom of the 9th vaults the Yankees to victory as they move back to .500 with a four game sweep of the lowly Twins who’ve now dropped ten in a row. Sparky Lyle (3.96) and Dale Murray (3-5, 2.75) combined for 5.1 innings of no hit relief for the Yanks
Texas 4 at Baltimore 5 (10)
-Mark Belanger scored the tying run in the 9th and drove in the winning run in the 10th as the Orioles escape with a split of a four game series with the pesky Rangers. AL batting leader Ken Singleton (.363) drove in three for the O’s
Kansas City 7 at Cleveland 0
-Steve Busby (13-6, 3.25) carried a no-hitter into the 8th and only allowed one hit as the Royals still haven’t lost consecutive games since early July. Freddie Patek hit his 3rd home run for K.C.
Oakland 1 at Detroit 2
-The Tigers have won seven in a row and the A’s have lost seven in a row as Detroit sweeps four from the 1975 AL West champs. Solo home runs by Bill’s accounted for all the offence as  the A’s Billy Williams (24) and the Tigers Bill Madlock (24) and Bill Freehan (10) all went deep. Williams broke up rookie Mark Fidrych’s (8-9, 3.59) shutout bid in the 9th
California 4 at Milwaukee 1
-Frank Tanana (17-9, 3.34) and Chris Knapp (5Sv, 4.93) combine to strike out nine as the Angels take the final two games to split a four game set at County Stadium

AL West:  The Royals lead by 15 games with four weeks to play
