-Tito Fuentes (4HR) breaks the game open with a three run home run in the 9th as Tug McGraw (4-6, 2.09) takes the loss for the Phils
Chicago 0 at Atlanta 3
-Rookie Adrian Devine (3-4, 3.48) scatters nine hits in a shutout as the Cubs strand eleven runners. Rod Gilbreath had four hits for the Braves and Marty Perez hit his 8th home run
St. Louis 3 at Cincinnati 6
-Johnny Bench (34) and Dave Concepcion (9) each hit two run home runs and Rich Hinton improves to 11-3, 3.33 as the Reds sweep a mini two-game series with the Cardinals for the second time in as many weeks.
Pittsburgh 6 at Houston 4
-Home runs by Dave Parker (20) and Gene Tenace help the Pirates to a 6-1 lead in the 9th. The Astros would get the tying run to 2nd base but Kent Tekulve (27Sv, 2.50) would get Jose Cruz to fly out to end the threat.

-Bobby Grich (18HR) and Ellie Hendricks (19) homered for Baltimore as Mike Torrez (13-10, 3.71) and Rudy May (18Sv, 3.78) limit the Angles to five hits
Oakland 4 at Cleveland 11
-Gorman Thomas takes the MLB home run lead with a pair tonight to give him 37 as the Indians roll over the A’s who committed four errors
Minnesota 2 at Detroit 5
-Richie Hebner and Bill Freehan each drove in a pair and Mark FIdrych (7-9, 3.73) and John Hiller (15Sv, 3.20) earned the decisions for the Tigers who escape last place - a position they’ve held for pretty much the entirety of two seasons

-Bill Stein went 4-for-4 with four RBI’s and Bart Johnson (7-8, 3.71) went the distance in an easy win for the ChiSox. Ralph Garr (.274 10HR) also went 4-for-4 and hit a home run
