-Bill Russell led off the game with his 4th home run of the season and Burt Hooton (10-15, 3.61) pitched seven innings without allowing an earned run as the Dodgers win their fourth in a row while the Braves have dropped seven straight.

-George Foster’s 28th home run of the season sealed a pivotal 5-2 win for the Reds. Wasn’t Bill Bonham’s (16-8, 3.13) best outing as he allowed thirteen baserunners in seven innings but it was enough for the win. Cesar Geronimo threw runners out at 3rd and home early in the game..

-Enzo Hernandez broke a 2-2 tie in the 8th with a two run double off Gary Lavelle (4-10, 3.76), making a winner of Padre’ reliever Jerry Johnson (5-2, 3.38)
NL East: The Pirates lead has been cut back to 9 by the Cardinals
