-Lou Brock (.344) and Bake McBride (.347) each had two hits for the Cardinals to keep pace with each other in the NL batting title race and helping Lynn McGlothen (11-5, 2.99) to victory

-Johnny Bench (.263 37HR) hit two doubles and a home run as the Reds jump all over Jerry Reuss (16- 6, 3.66) early and cruise to victory.

-The Reds gut out another 13 inning win in LA to complete the sweep. Clay Carroll (4-1,2..96) earned the win and Manny Sarmiento (2Sv, 2.25) the save. Pete Rose’s single scored Cesar Geronimo with the winning run

-Al Bumbry (.295 14HR) won’t be repeating his 1975 NL batting title but he hit a pair of home runs today to lead his team to victory

- Steve Garvey had three hits and Danny Frisella (10-5, 2.79) earned the win in relief as the Padres sweep the double-dip

-The Astros break a 1-1 tie in the 9th with two runs and hang on in the bottom half to complete the sweep of the Giants. Davey Lopes had the game winning RBI and Ken Forsch struggled to earn his 33rd save
