-Steve Ontiveros (.361 5HR) hit two home runs and drove in five and Bobby Murcer (.232 6HR) smacked a grand slam as the Cubs romp rookie Don Larson (0-1, 9.00) and the Phils at Wrigley
Pittsburgh 6 at Montreal 3 (game 1)
-The Pirates jump all over Clay Kirby (1-1, 6.35) as they build an early 6-0 lead to help Jim Rooker (5-3, 5.57) to victory.
Pittsburgh 5 at Montreal 1 (game 2)
-Pittsburgh has an easy time in their doubleheader sweep of Montreal. Al Oliver (.291) had three RBI’s and Bernie Carbo (.228) hit his 3rd home run of the year for the Pirates. Rookie Eddie Soloman (2-0, 2.22) got the win and Kent Tekulve (13SV, 2.37) earned the save in both ends today as the Pirates gain 1.5 games on the Phillies to double their lead in the East to 3 games.
Atlanta 9 at San Diego 6
-Darrell Evans (.238 9HR) hit a pair of home runs and Charlie Spikes (.304) drove in three as the Braves end a six game slide
Houston 1 at San Francisco 3
-The last place Giants are suddenly on a roll as Vida Blue (4-5, 4.04) pitches them to their fourth straight win. The Astros have lost three in a row.
