-Rick Reuschel (4-0, 1.16) stops the Bucs’ bleeding with a 2-hit masterpiece. Gene Tenace (7) and Jim Fregosi (2) homered to also help end the Pirates 5 game skid

- Lou Brock doubled home Bake McBride with the winning run in the bottom of the 9th. Will McEnaney (2-2, 6.11) was credited with the win, while the previously lights out Al Downing (0-1, 0.69) took the loss. The Cardinals have won 4 in a row and are back to .500

-Joe Morgan picked up where he left off yesterday with his 3rd home run of the year and Fred Norman (2-4, 5.22) won in his return to the rotation as the Reds dispose of the lowly Mets
