-Burt Hooton (3-2, 2.42) pitched 8 strong innings and Elias Sosa (5Sv, 0.00) was perfect yet again in the 9th for the Dodgers
Chicago 6 at San Diego 3
-Rookie Wayne Tyrone’s first major league home run was a 3-run shot in the 8th off Alan Foster (2-2, 1.98) to keep the Cubs in a 1st place tie with the Pirates
Pittsburgh 6 at San Francisco 5
-The Pirates rally from 3-0 down to maintain a share of the division lead. They’ve been in 1st place since Opening Day. Kent Tekulve (7Sv, 2.20) continues to shine in relief

-Roy Howell drove in three runs and Jim Kern (4Sv, 0.00) remained unhittable on the season with 2.1 innings of perfect relief

-Paul Splittorff (6-0, 0.72) allowed three runs but has only allowed 4 in 50 innings this season. Amos Otis hit a 3-run home run off Pete Broberg in the 9th to blow it open
