Frank White Drives in Four as Royals Win Seventh Straight


American League

Kansas City 8 at Boston 5
- Frank White (4) homered and drove in 4 and Paul Splittorff is now a perfect 7-0, 1.40 as the Royals build an 8-1 lead and hang on 8-6 to complete a sweep of the mini 2-game set at the World Champs. Kansas City has won seven in a row and leads the AL West by 4.5 games. Boston starter Rick Krueger made his major league debut and took the loss.

-Graig Nettles hit his 7th home run of the season and Don Gullett (2-2, 3.63) earned the victory as the Yankees halt a four game slide
Oakland 2 at Baltimore 0
-Sonny Siebert (3-3, 3.97) and Dave Hamilton (4Sv, 3.29) combine on a 2-hit shutout of the 1st place Orioles

-The Expos rally from 3-0 down thanks in part to a 2-run single from recent call-up Ed Herrmann

-George Foster ripped his 9th home run of the season and rookie Manny Sarmiento (1-0, 0.00) pitched 3 perfect innings of relief for the win and the doubleheader split
Atlanta 3 at New York 2
-Dave May hit his 2nd of the year and Max Leon (6Sv, 1.45) got the save as the Braves sweep the Mets for the second time to help comprise a current 11-2 run.
