Tigers Post Rare Consecutive Shutouts at Texas

Cleveland 5 at Minnesota 3
-Toby Harrah’s 3-run home run in the 6th off rookie Paul Hartzell (0-1, 5.60) made a winner of Ross Grimsley (2-0, 2.35). Yesterday’s loser Dave LaRoche bounced back with a save (2Sv, 7.71)
Detroit 11 at Texas 0
-Milt Wilcox’s (1-2, 3.86) turn to shut out the Rangers. The Tigers only shut out their opponents  three times last season - all in Cleveland - but have done so on consecutive days here in Arlington
Boston 8 at California 1
-Rookie Steve Dillard smacked 3 doubles and Rick Wise (1-2, 2.89) went the distance as the champs improved to 11-3
New York 10 at Oakland 2
-Walt Williams drove in 4 and Tom Underwood (1-0, 1.64) pitched the complete game for the Yankees

-Rick Reuschel (3-0, 1.15) didn’t allow an earned run in 7 innings and Richie Hebner (3) hit a 3-run home run off loser Brent Strom (0-2, 5.21)

-The Mets knock out 17 hits but it isn’t enough as they fall again in Atlanta
Montreal 2 at Cincinnati 5
- Joe Morgan hit his first home run of the season, Rawly Eastwick saved his 6th and Pat Darcy improved to 2-1, 3.80
Philadelphia 3 at Houston 2
-Sixto Lezcano (4) and Mike Schmidt (8) homered in the 3rd to trip up rookie Mark Lemongello (3-1, 1.06) as Larry Christenson improved to 4-0, 2.81 and the Phillies remain tied for 1st
