- Craig Swan and Mickey Lolich 3-hit the Expos as New York extended Montreal's losing streak to five
- The Pirates took a 2-1 lead in the 13th at Philadelphia but the Phillies rallied in the bottom half as Sixto Lezcano double off Larry Demery plated the winning run
- Cincinnati only mustered two hits off Houston pitching but that was enough for Gary Nolan who now is a sparkling 3-0, 0.72 in three starts
- Ron Cey hit his 5th home run of the year and Andy Messersmith is 2-2 on the year after a dominant performance in the Dodgers 10-2 rout at Candlestick
