Mazzilli Hits Grand Slam in MLB Debut

-Gaylord Perry upped his mark to 3-1, 4.24 and Ray Fosse homered and drove in 4
Cleveland 3 at Chicago 2 (gm2)
-George Hendrick  homered twice and Otto Velez connected for his first career round tripper as the Indians sweep the doubleheader. Ross Grimsley (3-0, 2.32) earned the win and Harry Parker (5Sv, 1.65) saved both ends for the Tribe
Milwaukee 2 at Texas 9
- Lee Mazzilli hit a grand slam in his first MLB game as the Rangers romp Brewers ace Mike Caldwell (3-2, 3.09). Stan Perzanowski (4-0, 1.88) went the distance in his first start after starting the season in the bullpen

-Frank LaCorte (2-0, 1.26) won his first major league start as Darrell Evans hit his 5th home run to stake the Braves to an early 3-0 lead in the 1st that they would not relinquish

-Rookie Bruce Boisclair hit the game winning triple in the 10th off the Astros Ken Forsch (2-2, 2.70)
Mike Ivie hammered his 6th home run of the season in a losing cause for Houston
Cincinnati 3 at Philadelphia 6
-Tug McGraw (5Sv, 1.00) pitched the final three innings and homered to provide the Phils insurance as the home team wins all four games in this 2 home/ 2 away 4-game set
Pittsburgh 1 at Los Angeles 0
-Doug Rau (1-3, 3.21) went the distance but lost on Bernie Carbo’s pinch hit single in the 9th. Dave Giusti (1-1, 0.95) got the win in relief for Pittsburgh
St. Louis 5 at San Diego 8
- The Cardinals Mario Guerrero made 3 errors as only 2 of the 8 Padres runs were earned. Padres 1975 ace Bill Greif won his 1st game but allowed 5 runs and is 1-2, 6.33
Chicago 3 at San Francisco 2 (10)
- The Cubs commit 4 errors but win in the 10th on a Charlie Williams wild pitch. Goose Gossage (2-1, 3.75) pitched the final 2.1 innings for the win
