Grich Lifts O's to 15-3 Start

American League

Baltimore 3 at Minnesota 1
-Bobby Grich’s 2-run home run in the 9th off Vic Albury gave the Orioles another close decision. Baltimore is now 15-0 in games not versus the Red Sox
Milwaukee 5 at Texas 3
-Johnny Briggs (3), Don Money (2) and Hank Aaron (3) all hit home runs to make a winner of Eduardo Rodriguez (2-3, 3.34)
New York 5 at California 4
-The Angels rally from 4-0 down but lose on Lenny Randle’s RBI single in the 9th
Boston 5 at Oakland 3
-Bruce Kison (3-0, 2.16) battled through 8 tough innings as the A’s rap out 13 hits but leave 11 men on base as the Red Sox prevail. Skip Lockwood struck out Sal Bando with 2 on in the 9th for his 5th save

National League
Los Angeles 9 at Pittsburgh 5
-L.A.’s Phil Garner scored three and drove in three and Andy Messersmith (4-2, 2.79) won his fourth straight for the victorious Dodgers
Montreal 0 at Atlanta 6
-Roric Harrison (1-2, 2.00) with the 6-hit 0 walk shutout as the Braves have won 5 in a row and the Expos have lost five straight
Philadelphia 5 at Cincinnati 7
-He wasn’t as impressive but Gary Nolan (5-0, 1.31) did enough to remain perfect. Backup catcher Bill Plummer hit two home runs for the Reds who’ve won five in a row
New York 8 at Houston 6
-The struggling Joe Torre hit a 2-run home run to key a four run Mets 9th. The Astros answered with two in the bottom half but could not complete the comeback. The Mets end a 7-game losing streak.
