-Mike Miley showed some rare pop with a 2-run home run off Catfish Hunter (2-3, 3.94) in a decisive 3-run 3rd for the visitors

-The Orioles were one out away from a perfect 11-0 home record but Chris Speier ripped a 3-run shot with 2-out in the 9th off Nelson Briles to tie it. The Twins scored two in the 10th and the Orioles answered with one but Mike Marshall (2-1, 3.81) got Ken Singleton to pop out with 2-men on to end it

- Jerry Koosman (4-1, 2.25) and Stan Bahnsen (2Sv, 2.77) weather two Gorman Thomas home runs as the Sox halt a seven game slide

- Buck Martinez’s solo shot off Ray Bare in the 9th lifted the 1st place Royals to a 2-1 win. Marty Pattin (5Sv, 0.00) earned the save.

- Kurt Bevacqua’s RBI single in the 9th off Sparky Lyle (0-2, 2.60) salvaged one game for the AL East on this night
