Flushing, NY - Tommy Helms had only three extra-base-hits in his 95 at bats in 1975, all doubles. Well today he'd hit his first major league home run to go with a single, double and a game winning triple in the 11th inning as Kent Tekulve earned a relief victory and Ray Sadecki was saddled with a relief loss on consecutive days in New York. Helms was given the opportunity to complete the cycle thanks in part to Mets rookie Bruce Boisclair who hit a pinch-hit three run blast in the 6th in his first major league at bat to get the Mets back in the game.
