Miller's First Career Home Run Propels Champs

Bronx, NY - Rick Miller was homerless in 300+ at bats including the post season in 1975, but he'd get off the schneid in his first at bat of 1976 taking the Yankees Catfish Hunter deep to the short porch in right at Yankee Stadium.

The Yankees were the best team in baseball after the All-Star Break last season while their arch rivals from Boston are the defending World Series champions. The Red Sox return Cy Young Bruce Kison (22-3, 1.92) and MVP 1B Bob Watson (.375 24HR 122RBI) to their roster this season. Kison as well as counterpart Hunter had poor spring training causing concern heading into opening day. Kison did more than Hunter today to quell their teams fears.
